Come join us at Six Flags Great Adventure for our
Winter Adventure 2/26

Greetings ACE New Jersey members and friends,   I hope you're enjoying the holidays whether you've been riding coasters or spending time with family or friends. 2011 was an amazingly busy year for the NJ region of ACE as we hosted the most events in one season EVER in the history of the region with a total of SIX and two park hosted events. Our 6 events included the 2nd annual Winter Oasis at Sahara Sam's Oasis Indoor Waterpark, Seaside Screams V at Casino Pier, Highway to Hellcat II at Clementon Park, Riding of the Bull Tres at Six Flags Great Adventure, Exit Fear-B at Morey's Fears and our 3rd annual regional event at Storybook Land called Ridin' in a Winter Wonderland. 2011 also saw the addition of our new assistant rep, honorary member Mark Davidson (who replaced Rob Ascough in the spring).   For those of you who have not heard, I also have another bit of news to share. After five very successful years as Regional Rep, I have decided to retire from my position effective December 31st. It was not an easy decision but something I felt needed to happen so I can concentrate on my new job which I started in July. I'm also just a bit burnt out from the massive effort that goes into running what is now considered one of the most active regions in ACE. In my five years at the helm, we've created a lot of annual events that I am extremely proud of- forging a very strong relationship with parks our region has never worked with before like Casino Pier and Storybook Land and furthering our existing ones. The love they all have shown ACE and our region in particular is both astounding and appreciated. With the help of the regional rep team, we also created a never-to-miss annual pilgrimage of an event at Six Flags Great Adventure- an event that touts two solid hours of wood coaster riding bliss on the top rated El Toro coaster. Riding of the Bull (or Running of the Bulls or Raging of the Bull as many lovingly mistakenly call it) is now an event name as recognizable as Holiwood Nights, KennyKon or Spring Fling. Last year over 250 ACE members and guests helped make this the highest attended event in our region's history. The team also put together our first off-season event complete with park guest speakers, videos, and giveaways uniquely combining it with the thrills of indoor waterpark thrills. Lastly and certainly not least, Morey's Piers has opened its arms to ACE and our thoughts, ideas, and opinions- just one of the many cool things we get to do at their popular annual Coastin' by the Ocean event. The relationships I've helped build with park management and ownership is one of the achievements I'm most proud of and something that will surely continue into the future.   While it may be disappointing to some that I am stepping down, I am very proud to announce that my steady assistant of those same five years and friend for three times as long, Bret Ulozas will be taking over as the new Regional Rep. To aid in the transition and at least his first year at the helm, I will stay on the team as Assistant. My new position will allow me to concentrate on the "little things", further improving what I believe is already great. Mark Davidson will also continue on with the team. I dare say, I believe the future of the NJ region is brighter than ever before. With Bret you will get even fresher ideas, more attention than I've been able to put in lately and a kind smile and big heart unmatched by any other. We already have a new winter event planned for February 25th at Six Flags Great Adventure called Winter Adventure, the return of Riding of the Bull for its 4th consecutive year in September and many of the same favorites you've come to know and love. Bret will be in touch shortly with all of the details.   In closing, I can't THANK YOU all enough for your support, friendship and kindness. I also want to send a VERY big thanks to all of the wonderful people I've worked with at all of our fine parks throughout the years, past and present like Angel A., Kevin, Jenn, Kristin, Jamie, Frank and John at Six Flags Great Adventure, Jack, Will, Dino, Kristel, Lindsey, Sam, Nick, Tim, Norris and Angel D. at Morey's Piers, Josh and Debbie at Casino Pier, Nick and Margie at Clementon Park, Beth at Sahara Sam's, and JJ, Jessica, John and Bill at Storybook Land. And a special thanks to our friends at Knoebels who kept us up to date with the progress of our beloved Golden Nugget, now Black Diamond.   Happy New Year and I hope to see you all riding coasters in 2012!

Sincerely, Adam Revesz (for the last time) ACE NJ Regional Rep

Great Adventure Announces New Attractions

2012 Additions Announced
Both extreme and family thrills are on tap for 2012!  Theme park guests will have more to scream about with the introduction of SkyScreamer.  The newest sensation in tower rides, SkyScreamer will take swing rides to the next level and join the park’s already breathtaking lineup of thrills as it whisks guests up, up and away high over the park, feet dangling and hair blowing.  Towering 15 stories above the ground, SkyScreamer will reside next to the classic Big Wheel. Thirty-two guests will board the ride and sit two across in open-air swings as they climb to the top of the SkyScreamer tower while spinning round and round.  At full swing, guests will soar in a 98-ft. circle at speeds of 40 mph high above the park below.

This just in   "We just found out that SkyScreamer grew from 15 to 24 stories tall!"

The park is also introducing two new, yet classic, family attractions– bumper cars and a music-themed scrambler.  Guests will also be greeted with the return of the popular flying elephants ride, which formerly made its home in The Golden Kingdom section of the theme park. At Six Flags Hurricane Harbor, it’s go big, go extreme– with the addition of exciting, new drop boxes guaranteed to ramp up the thrill factor at the slide tower known as “The Falls.”  Guests will climb into a clear, fully-enclosed launch capsule and begin the nerve-wracking countdown to the moment when the floor literally disappears beneath them and sends them into a freefall at speeds of up to 32 mph.

IT'S COOL TO BE JERSEY!

There's simply no denying it. New Jersey has made its way into our daily lives thanks to recent television programming that has Jersey pegged as the place to either want to be or the place you want to make fun of. Either way, we think it's "cool to be Jersey!". From MTV's controversial "Jersey Shore" reality show to "The Real Housewives of New Jersey" and "Cake Boss", there's just no way to avoid our little state and the same goes for our region of the American Coaster Enthusiasts. We're a proud bunch and ACE New Jersey is where it's at! We're "fist pumpin' fun in 2010" and we launch right here with our brand new regional website.

Here you'll find out about all of our super cool annual events like the brand new ACE NJ Winter Oasis to the perennial favorite, Seaside Screams at Casino Pier, to the ultra-extreme El Toro ERT of Riding of the Bull at Six Flags Great Adventure! You can download the most recent issues of the new and improved Track Grease and Tomato Pie newsletter, follow links to our state's parks, peruse photos of previous bangin' events, see what our neighbors are doing, and get the latest dirt on all of the parks and coasters in our region. And speaking of parks, where else can you find ten amusement piers/ seaside parks? Or how about a park boasting the world's tallest and fastest steel coaster and one of the world's tallest and steepest wood coasters? Fuhgetaboutit!

As always, Jersey attitude aside, we welcome all comments and suggestions to make our website, newsletter and events even better. Feel free to reach out to any of the THREE members of our regional rep team: Adam Revesz, regional rep and Bret Ulozas or Rob Ascough, assistant reps. Enjoy the site!
